This one way clutch allows the electric starter motor to spin the engine but disengages the moment the engine starts running on its own. The Starter Clutch Outer Assy houses the rollers that lock onto the Wheel Starter during the cranking process. Supporting this rotating mass is a high quality Bearing designed to handle high speeds with minimal friction. To ensure the assembly remains secure it includes various Washers plus Circlips that keep the internal parts in perfect alignment. Every component like the Gear 2 plus Shaft 1 is built from hardened steel to resist the stresses of thousands of start cycles.
